Only a couple of months later the famous Spice Girls singer, Geri Halliwell has also worn this magical green dress at the Music Awards in January 2000 in France. Those days the Spice Girls were one of the most famous girl bands in the world. Howerer, interestingly she had not received the same attention as a couple of months later Jennifer Lopez would.
In February 2000 at the Grammy J-Lo has chosen her outfit relatively fast as she has fallen in love with this green Versace dress the moment she saw it. Her stylist warned her not to wear the same piece worn by someone else a month ago but J-Lo didn’t care, as she thought it was provocative enough to invoke interest. However, what they were looking for, an actual image, did not come up in the results. Therefore, Google had to come up with a solution and it embraced the opportunity to show how technology really spring from people's needs as much as fashion”
Exactly 20 years later in 2020, in honor of the dress’s anniversary J-Lo has worn a very similar version of the dress for Versace’s runaway show in Milan. And this time again, the world of the internet got blown away as 50 years-old Jennifer Lopez was just as well stunning in the reimagined green satin dress.
She may not be the first who has worn the dress, but it led to a lifelong friendship with Donatella Versace and has also changed the face of modern technology.
